Video aspect ratio refers to the shape of your video (tall, landscape portrait). As an example you can have a square video or 1:1 video at any resolution, 720 by 720 or 1080 by 1080 are both square videos but at different qualities.

Add videos to Flixier

Change the aspect ratio of your video
Now simply take a look on the right side of your screen and you’ll find Project Resolution settings. You can change that and pick from any resolution you would like, we bundled a few popular ones that will give your video a square or tall ratio or you can even define custom sizes if you want.
Now drag and drop videos from the library to the timeline and they will automatically be cropped to fit your selected ratio but you can still make tweaks like resizing the video or changing its position on the video canvas.

Download your video
When happy with the result you can download the video on your computer by simply clicking the Export button at the top right of the screen. At this step the video will be processed super fast by our cloud computers and it will automatically download when ready. If you close your tab you will always find your video in the Export section of your Flixier dashboard.

How do I change the aspect ratio of a video?
To change the aspect ratio of a video click the Get Started button in Flixier and import your video files. Now set your project resolution to the ratio that you want it to be, you can choose from a variety of predefined ratios and resolutions or you can create your own custom one.
Now drag your videos on the timeline and they will automatically resize to fit the new ratio. Still you can resize or move them around if you want to focus on a specific part of the video.
When happy just click the Export button to save the video.
How do I change a video to 16:9?
To change a video to 16:9 just head over to Flixier and make sure to set your project resolution to 1920:1080p or 1280:720p, if your going for super quality you can do 3840:2160. All these resolutions represent a 16:9 video ratio. Now drag your videos on the canvas or timeline, you can resize them to fit your new resolution which will result in a crop or leave them be if you are fine with black bars.
How do I know my aspect ratio?
To know your aspect ratio you will first need to know your video resolution. You can find this by right clicking your video and selecting Properties on windows or Get Info on Mac. Next use a tool like this one that will calculate your ratio based on your resolution.
