How to Make a Split Screen Video

Upload Your Videos

Open Flixier and import the two videos you want to use.

Create the Split Screen

Place both videos on separate timeline tracks and line them up so they play together. Select each clip and click Fit Canvas. Then select the video on top, open Crop menu from the right, go to Advanced options, and move the Left or Right slider to 50% to divide the screen down the middle.

Download or Publish

Click Export when your split screen video is ready. Download the finished video to your device or publish it to a connected platform.

Arrange Videos Side by Side or Stacked

Choose How the Screen Is Split

Place two videos side by side for a direct comparison, stack them for a vertical video, or divide the canvas into three or four sections. Each clip can be resized and moved separately, so you decide how much of the screen it uses and where it appears.

Keep Your Clips in Sync

Move each clip along the timeline to control when it starts. Trim the beginning or end when one recording runs longer than the other, then preview both videos together. This helps reactions match the original footage and keeps different camera angles on the same moment.

Show the Right Part of Each Clip

Reposition and crop each video separately to keep faces, products, gameplay, or other important details visible. You can use Flixier to crop your videos before placing them into their sections without changing the rest of the split screen.

Label Each Side Clearly

Add names, “before” and “after” labels, scores, or short explanations so viewers understand what each side shows. Flixier lets you add text to your video, change its style, and position each label next to the clip it describes.

How do I put two videos side by side?

Import both videos into Flixier and place them on separate timeline tracks. Resize each clip to cover half of the canvas, then position one on the left and the other on the right. Align their starting points on the timeline, preview the result, and export them as one video.

Can I show more than two videos on the same screen?

Of course, you can resize and arrange several clips on the canvas to create three sections, four quarters, or another layout that suits your project. Every clip remains separate on the timeline, so you can change its position, crop, timing, and size without affecting the other videos.

Can I make a vertical split screen video?

Yes, simply choose a vertical canvas and stack the videos one above the other to give each clip more room on a phone screen. You can also place clips side by side if that works better for the footage. Preview the layout before exporting to check that important details remain visible.

How do I synchronize the videos in a split screen?

Place the clips on separate timeline tracks and move them until the moments you want to compare line up. Trim unwanted footage from either end and use the preview to check the timing. You can also mute one recording or adjust the volume when you only need audio from one clip.

What is the difference between split screen and picture-in-picture?

A split screen gives two or more videos their own sections of the canvas, often side by side or stacked. Picture-in-picture keeps one video as the main view and places another in a smaller window over it. The better layout depends on whether both clips need equal attention.
