Combining Multiple Videos and Other Media

Combining Media and Using the Timeline

To combine videos and other media in Flixier, you first need to add them to your media library. Click the blue Import or Record button at the top left of the screen and choose where you want to upload your files from.

After you add your media files to the library, you are ready to combine them. Simply drag and drop them onto the timeline in the lower part of the screen.

Understanding Timeline Tracks

The timeline is organized into horizontal rows called tracks that stack on top of one another. You can drag media files one after another on the same track to order them sequentially.

You can also stack files vertically across different tracks. Stacking tracks is how you overlay different types of media on top of your base footage. For example:

  • Picture-in-picture: Place two videos on different tracks stacked on top of each other to show them on the canvas at the same time.
  • Overlays: Place text, shapes, or subtitles on a higher track so they appear visually on top of your video.
  • Audio: Place music or voiceovers on a track below your video to synchronize the sound.

Selecting Media Files

  • Single Selection: Click on a media file in the timeline. A solid yellow border will appear around the clip to indicate that it is selected.
  • Deselect: Click on any empty space in the timeline or on the video canvas.
  • Multiple Selection: Click and drag your cursor across the timeline to draw a dashed yellow box over the files you want to select together. Alternatively, you can hold down the Ctrl (or Cmd on Mac) key while clicking on individual clips to select multiple items at once.

Moving Media and Managing Gaps

To move media files, simply click and drag your selection. You can move clips left, right, up, or down across your timeline tracks.

If you move clips and leave an empty space between them on the same track, you can right-click that empty space to reveal quick actions. This menu allows you to easily manage the timeline gap using options like Trim and fit or Insert and push.
