Create Your Own Templates

Learn how to create content much faster by saving and re-using videos as a template. Flixier makes it incredibly easy to speed up your workflow. Whether you want to build your own custom format from scratch or use one of our professionally designed presets, you can reuse elements and swap footage in seconds.

How to Create Your Own Custom Templates

If you produce a lot of videos that follow the exact same format, you can save a massive amount of time by using an older video as a base. By duplicating a previous project, you retain your standard intro, background music, watermark, and outro without having to rebuild them manually.

1. Go to your main Flixier dashboard and navigate to your Projects tab.
2. Look for the project you want to use as your custom base template.
3. Click the three dots (...) located in the bottom right corner of the project card.
4. Select Duplicate Project from the menu.
5. A copy of your project will instantly be generated. You can rename this copy and open it in the editor to start swapping in new content.

Using Flixier's Built-In Templates

If you prefer to start with a fresh, professionally designed layout, Flixier features a built-in library of ready-to-use templates.

1. Navigate to the left-side menu of your main dashboard and click on the Templates tab.
2. Browse the wide variety of projects or narrow down your search using the category menu at the top of the screen.
3. Click on any template thumbnail to load it directly into your editing timeline.

How to Swap in Your Own Footage (Replace Media)

Whether you duplicated your own custom project or loaded a built-in Flixier template, you will need to swap out the old clips or placeholders for your new footage. You can do this easily while keeping all the pre-set filters, animations, and transitions completely intact.

1. Right-click on the clip you want to swap out directly on your timeline or on the video preview canvas.
2. Select Replace media from the context menu.
3. A new media selection window will pop up.
4. Use the tabs at the top of this window to browse Stock Media, use AI Generation, or select Upload Media to grab files from your own library.
5. Select your desired asset, and Flixier will automatically replace the old clip with your new footage.
