Arranging Layers

When you place multiple videos, images, or text blocks on top of each other in your canvas, you might need to adjust which element appears in the front and which stays in the background.

In Flixier, arranging layers is handled by your timeline Tracks. The timeline operates on a simple top-to-bottom hierarchy:

• Media placed on the top track will always appear in the front of your video canvas.
• Media placed on the bottom track will always appear in the background.

How to Reorder Your Elements

If you have overlapping clips and want to bring an underlying video to the front, you don’t need to manually drag the clips to entirely new tracks. You can simply shift the entire track up or down:

1. Look at the track headers on the far-left side of your timeline.
2. Locate the small grip handle on the left side of the track you want to move.
3. Click and hold this grip handle.
4. Drag the entire track higher or lower in the timeline stack.
5. Every single clip on that track will move together, maintaining their exact timing, while immediately updating their front-to-back layer positioning on your video canvas.
