How to Use Motion Graphics

Motion graphics are pre-animated elements, much like YouTube subscribe badges, notification bells, and social media prompts that you can easily drop into your videos. In Flixier, you can quickly customize their colors, text, and size to perfectly match your brand.

Adding Motion Graphics

  1. Go to the vertical menu on the left side of the screen and click on the Elements tab.
  2. Scroll down past the Shapes and Stickers until you find the Motion Graphics section.
  3. Click the yellow View All link to open the full library of animated badges and icons.
  4. Browse the options and drag your preferred graphic directly onto your video canvas or timeline.

Moving and Resizing

Once added, your graphic will appear on the timeline, and a yellow outline with square handles will appear around it on the canvas.

  • On the Canvas: Click and drag the middle of the graphic to move it around the screen. You can drag the yellow corner squares inward or outward to instantly resize it.
  • Using the Properties Panel: For precision, select the graphic on the timeline and look at the right-hand Properties menu. Under the Motion Object tab, you can manually type exact pixel coordinates into the Position boxes or adjust the percentages in the Scale boxes.

Customizing Colors and Text

You are not locked into the default colors or words. You can easily customize the internal elements of your chosen graphic:

  1. Select the motion graphic on your timeline.
  2. Look at the right-hand Properties menu under the Motion Object tab and click the Edit Motion Object button.
  3. A new customization window will pop up featuring a preview of your graphic.
  4. To change text: Use the text input boxes on the right side of the window to replace the default words. Click the small icon next to the text box to edit the typography.
  5. To change colors: Click directly on any specific shape inside the video preview player to select a new color for that part of the graphic.
  6. Once you are happy with your changes, click the Save motion object button at the bottom right of the window.

Adding Extra Animations and Transitions

While motion graphics come pre-animated, you can add extra visual flair to them using the Motion Object properties panel:

  • Transitions: Click + Add transition in or + Add transition out to define exactly how the graphic enters or exits the screen.
  • Animation: Expand the Animation menu to apply continuous movement presets while the graphic is on screen, such as Float, Bounce, Pop, or Spin.
  • Perspective: Expand the Perspective menu at the bottom of the panel and use the SkewX or SkewY sliders to tilt the graphic in 3D space.
