AI Thumbnail Generator

Flixier's AI Thumbnail Generator allows you to create eye-catching, custom thumbnails directly from your video frames. By selecting a specific moment on your timeline, providing a title, and adding creative instructions, the AI generates a polished image ready for YouTube, Instagram, or TikTok without needing any third-party graphic design software.

How to Access the Generator

There are two ways to open the AI Thumbnail Generator:

From the Main Menu: Go to your Flixier dashboard and click on All Tools in the left-side navigation bar. Scroll down to the For image category and click on the Generate Thumbnail card.
From the Editor: While working on a project, click the AI Shortcuts tab located at the very bottom of the left sidebar. Select Generate Thumbnail from the menu.

How to Generate a Thumbnail

Select Your Frame: Move the timeline playhead to the exact moment in your video that you want to use as the base image for your thumbnail.
Toggle Face Focus: If the selected frame features a human subject, make sure to toggle the "This frame contains a person" switch to the ON position for the best AI rendering results.
Confirm Selection: Click the Select current frame button to lock in your image.
Add Text: In the Add text to your thumbnail box, type the main title or hook you want displayed on the image.
Choose Aspect Ratio: Select your desired Aspect Ratio to ensure it fits your target social platform perfectly.
Apply Brand Kit: If you have custom colors and fonts saved to your account, toggle the Customize with Brand Kit switch to automatically apply them to the generated design.
Add Prompts: Use the Additional Instructions text box to provide specific details about the style, colors, or visual elements the AI should include.
Generate: Click the pink Generate Thumbnail button.
Download: Once processing is complete, your new design will appear on the screen. Click the Download button to save it directly to your device, or click Start again to try a different look.
